Established in 1974, originally as Shades Mountain Christian School, Heritage Christian Academy has a rich heritage in Christian education. The "Heritage" name plays tribute to the legacy and history reflective of the school founder, the late Richard "Dick" Vigneulle. Pastor Vigneulle had a vision to start a Christian community school in Birmingham. Since our inception the school has served students and families for over 40 years, and has graduated over 1,000 alumni.
Heritage Christian Academy is accredited by AdvancED, formerly the Southern Association of Colleges and Schools (SACS). HCA is a member of the Association of Christian Schools International (ACSI).
Heritage Christian Academy is an independent, community, Christian school serving grades K4-12. The HCA student body is diverse in race and socioeconomic status. Challenging academics with college prep curriculum, innovative technology and extra-curricular activities prepare our students for the next level. It is our desire to partner with families to raise up a generation of inspired, transformed, and mission-minded young people.
