Heritage Christian Academy Students Selected for Statewide Art Exhibition

Bessemer, AL — Heritage Christian Academy is proud to announce that its third-grade students recently participated in a special art class made possible through a grant from the Alabama State Council on the Arts. This one-time grant-funded experience provided students with a fun and engaging opportunity to explore creativity, collaboration, and artistic expression.

During the class, students brainstormed ideas around a shared theme, “What Makes Alabama Great,” and created their own unique artistic interpretations. The lesson encouraged imagination while helping students develop confidence in expressing their perspectives through art.

Following the class, a representative from the Alabama State Council on the Arts reviewed the students’ work and selected two outstanding pieces to represent Heritage Christian Academy in a statewide exhibition. Mack was chosen for his fishing-themed artwork, while Whitley was selected for her creative depiction of the state of Alabama.

Their winning pieces will be displayed in the Alabama State Capitol throughout the month of April, when legislators are in session. This statewide exhibit highlights student artwork representing schools across Alabama in connection with their county House of Representatives. A special reception will also be held at the Capitol in April to honor the students whose artwork was selected.

Heritage Christian Academy celebrates Mack and Whitley for this achievement and is grateful to the Alabama State Council on the Arts for providing an enriching opportunity that allowed students to experience the joy of creative expression while representing their school and community on a statewide stage.
